Rhianne Hoek

Rhianne Hoek is a PhD candidate at the Behavioural Science Institute at Radboud University. Since the beginning of 2020, she has also been working as a lecturer in communication science at the University of Amsterdam. Rhianne's PhD project focuses on 8-12 year old children’s processing of advertising and activation of advertising literacy. Specifically, she uses indirect (implicit) measures to assess the activation of advertising schemas during/after exposure to advertising. She looks at differences in activation between traditional and non-traditional forms of advertising (e.g., television advertising vs product placement in vlogs) and if disclosures can activate children’s advertising literacy. Since the spring of 2020 she has been teaching communication science at the University of Amsterdam.
